The Site Reliability Engineer, as part of our Production support team, works in a high-availability environment ensuring the production uptime, efficiency and stability of our various payment applications and systems.

 

What you will do:

 

  • Manage and deploy dynamically scalable, self-healing applications on AWS and hybrid cloud environments;
  • Administer containerization software (built around Docker) and a containerization platform to manage application configurations and deployments using AWS EKS;
  • Configure monitoring and observability (deployment and runtime logs, application performance) – cloud resources, managed services, orchestration platform, in-house built applications;
  • Execute application systems performance optimisations and monitoring functions.
  • System and applications troubleshooting, problem solving across platforms and application domains;
  • Ensure all production and non-production issues are tracked and perform the necessary follow-ups and/or escalations with the required internal or external departments.
  • Help provide detailed root cause analysis of issues when they occur and provide workarounds and solutions.
  • Eliminate recurring technical issues by providing and implementing solid solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams across multiple sites.

Please note that this role requires you to be on a on-call rotation outside regular working hours.

 

To be successful you need to have:

 

  • 5+ years of experience in a Cloud Engineer/DevOps/SRE role, preferably with an AWS background using a broad range of products (EC2, RDS, ELB, EKS, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, KMS, TGW);
  • Experience with Kubernetes—either vanilla or managed (EKS or similar).
  • Application delivery in on-prem and/or cloud environments using automated build techniques and CI pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with build and deployment automation (GitLab) and version control systems.
  • Strong scripting/automation abilities and knowledge of at least one programming language; solid understanding of Linux, networking (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls), and SQL databases.
  • Troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities; experience with F5 and Akamai is a plus.
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills in English.

 

Considered as a plus:

 

  • Knowledge of monitoring tools such as AppDynamics or any other similar tools. Good working knowledge of Splunk.
  • Experience in a banking, financial services or credit card processing environment
