Paysafe has offices across the globe and, in particular, processing operations in Vienna, Sofia, across Canada, LATAM and the USA. So, occasional international travel will be required. You’ll be working with leading privacy professionals who will coach, support and develop you to meet the challenges of the role.

Based in Sofia, you’ll be working with colleagues around the globe from London and Vienna, to Jacksonville and Lima! This is an opportunity that will fast-track your development as a privacy professional.

 

Job Purpose

 

To support the Cheif Privacy Officer and Deputy to enable all Paysafe Group companies to comply with their Data Protection obligations globally.

You will bring some experience as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for European and other Global Data Protection laws such as the GDPR, PIPEDA and CCPA as amended by CPRA and be willing to develop knowledge of relevant Data Protection laws globally. While you will have some privacy experience, this role supports senior SMEs and aims to develop your knowledge and experience across a range of issues including the development of frameworks and technology that enable Privacy assessment of business processes against the Global Privacy Policy, Privacy Standards, etc.

This is a frontline role for a data privacy professional, working with the business areas and other risk teams to:

  • Advise on compliance across all aspects of global privacy law and regulation, including data protection, retention, security and breach rules
  • Provide practical, risk-based privacy advice, consultation and support to all business units and functions within Paysafe’s Group structure
  • Assist in the continued development and improvement of all aspects Paysafe’s privacy compliance program (data transfers, processing, privacy policies, staff training, etc.)

The role will include collaborating or assisting in all the main privacy areas for a global company (and in some limited instances, to lead an activity). These include:  

  • implementing the ‘Privacy Policy’ and accompanying ‘Standards’ globally across all group companies
  • establishing and maintaining Paysafe’s global Data Protection compliance framework
  • disseminating new guidance on Privacy to all staff
  • monitoring compliance with the Privacy Standards, Policies and procedures and liaising with Internal Audit
  • carrying out Privacy / Data Protection Impact Assessments
  • developing and implementing a ‘control self-assessment’ Privacy questionnaire and process
  • investigation and management of potential breaches and data incidents
  • advising on cross border data transfers
  • providing pragmatic and risk-based advice on marketing initiatives, particularly electronic marketing
  • provide formal compliance reporting to the Chief and Deputy Chief Privacy Officer
  • provide advice on projects and to act as a key point of contact for Privacy issues
  • review and advise on DPA clauses in customer terms and supplier contracts to meet GDPR and international DP requirements

 

Key Requirements and Experience

 

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a privacy role
  • Proven experience of working with privacy issues
  • Practical experience in the area of European data privacy and protection and a good understanding of the GDPR and its implications, preferably within an international organisation. Wider global privacy law knowledge is helpful
  • Pragmatic, risk-based approach and experience
  • Understanding of Internet architecture and related operations
  • Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad range of matters
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Ability to collaborate and build strong stakeholder relationships
  • Excellent communication skills, able to simplify the complicated to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Capable of influencing at all levels of the organisation in a friendly and constructive manner

 

The candidate must be able to demonstrate they have the right personal qualities and approach: constructive, collaborative, helpful, open, honest, influential, motivated, dedicated. Ability to research and quickly digest new and emerging Data Protection rules and provide practical and commercial advice on their implications, including:

 

  • Commercially aware
  • Good Microsoft Office and IT skills
  • Organisational skills – able to run multiple initiatives in parallel
  • Payments industry background helpful; as is wider Compliance and risk management exposure at a senior level for an international organisation, working with Compliance teams, Information Security and other Risk teams
  • Understanding of systems and processes involved in gathering, storing, transferring and collecting data in an international context
  • Understanding of the key concepts and principles of information security

 

Note: this is a front-line role for a junior privacy professional. You will need to demonstrate practical privacy experience in a private sector B2C facing company. B2B experience is also helpful, as Paysafe has entities operating as both Data Controller and Data Processor. Whilst experience of advising outside of UK / EU privacy laws is ideal; for the right candidate, lack of such wider knowledge is not fatal. This role presents a major development opportunity for the right candidate.

Qualifications

  • IAPP CIPP qualifications, especially CIPP/E, CIPM or willingness to undertake professional training
  • Degree in Law or an aligned compliance subject, Post Graduate certification in one or more of data privacy, legal, compliance, information technology desirable
  • Candidates with or without legal qualifications are welcome, but must have strong data privacy knowledge and experience, with a strong academic background
  • The key requirement is that you have practical data privacy knowledge and experience, i.e. able to demonstrate implementing privacy and not just ‘advising’
