We are seeking a skilled Senior Observability and Telemetry Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for architecting, implementing, automating and maintaining observability and telemetry solutions to ensure and improve the reliability, performance, and scalability of our systems. This role involves working closely with development, product, operations, and other teams to provide insights and actionable data. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Architect, develop and maintain monitoring, logging, and tracing systems to provide visibility into application performance and infrastructure health 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate telemetry solutions into products, applications, infrastructure and workflows 
  • Analyze telemetry data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement 
  • Ensure the team adheres to best practices in telemetry data collection, storage, and analysis 
  • Act as a mentor to junior engineers, promote a culture of infrastructure automation for all observability and monitoring solutions 
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance Observability processes and tools 
  • Ensure the team adheres to best practices and industry standards, in telemetry data collection, storage, and analysis 
  • Research and provide recommendations in new monitoring technology improvements 
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, balance multiple priorities, attending incident response as required 
  • Strong written communication, with ability to present technology stacks, designs and status to large audience of senior management and individual contributors 

  

Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering and/or SRE roles building distributed applications 
  • 3+ years of experience in observability or monitoring engineering platform development; this includes log/metric/trace ingestion and processing, monitoring and alerting solutions, and all workflows on top of the observability data 
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Splunk, DataDog, AppDynamics, New Relic or similar tools 
  • Experience with deploying and building Monitoring and Observability stacks using open-source tools - Grafana, ELK, Prometheus etc. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience, Engineering, or a related field 
  • Proven experience in telemetry systems, data analysis, and team management 
  • Proficiency in monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack) 
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) 
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams 
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, ability to thrive in an independent and collaborative fast-paced environment, managing priorities properly 

  

Preferred Skills: 

  • Experience in a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or similar role 
  • Familiarity with incident management and observability practices 
  • Knowledge of AWS tools (CloudTrail, CloudWatch, SNS, SQS, etc.) and container orchestration platforms (k8s, EKS, Docker) 

  

Considered as an additional benefit: 

  • Experience in AI/ML integration into Observability tools is a plus 
  • Advanced ITIL, including ITIL v3 and v4, certification or training 
  • Integration with ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow
