We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Defend leadership team, who’ll be responsible for the Risk & Compliance services, features, and platforms in Paysafe and our products and services.  As Engineering Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing and developing highly skilled software engineering teams. You will have an opportunity to build and deliver sophisticated solutions, and use innovative technologies and infrastructure, which will be a critical part of ensuring compliance and minimizing the risk of everything that happens in our products. An integral part of your role will be constantly applying modern methodologies and an AI-centric way of thinking into your team's engineering work, processes, and routines. You will lead from the front, inspire creativity, and foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and trust within the Software Engineering department.

 

What to expect: 

 

  • You will lead one or two engineering teams (8-12 people each), co-located or spread across multiple locations, through Agile leadership, facilitating, hiring, coaching, mentoring, and hands-on involvement in the personal and career development of each of your direct reports
  • You’ll provide strong and determined leadership for your teams, enabling a culture of collaboration, innovation, engagement, and continuous improvement
  • You’ll own and manage the delivery cycle of our modern technical solutions, addressing the current business needs, and ensuring adherence to timelines, quality standards, and product requirements
  • Oversee the technical design and implementation while following the industry’s best practices and scalability requirements.
  • Effectively communicate updates, progress, risks, blockers, and challenges to key stakeholders, including the executive leadership and product managers
  • Craft and implement a meaningful vision for the team, working closely with product managers, stakeholders, fellow peers and engineering managers, and other engineering teams
  • Promote agile software development and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices to improve team efficiency and facilitate rapid iterations and predictable delivery
  • Promote tools and processes supporting highly efficient software development
  • Actively collaborate with your colleagues and other leaders in the organization
  • Occasional work or learning-related travel

 

To be successful you need to: 

 

  • Have actual experience in managing software engineers and engineering teams, and successfully delivering products in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Be knowledgeable and passionate about modern AI tools and developments, and their potential application in software engineering
  • Love helping, developing, and growing people and have a successful track record of having done so
  • Incorporate real-world data, KPIs and metrics into a continuous cycle of improvements and measure their impact
  • Be skilled in stakeholder and expectations management, effectively facilitating seamless collaboration with product managers, solution architects, and operational stakeholders.
  • Have excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively talk to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Be knowledgeable and passionate about technology, performance, stability, security, and scalability.
  • Have experience in building and supporting high-scale, high-availability systems.
  • Have deep technical expertise and understanding of software development principles and methodologies.
  • Be fluent in English.

 

Any of the following is considered a plus: 

 

  • Experience and proven track record of the successful application of AI in your or your team’s everyday work, ceremonies of products
  • Understanding of modern financial risk management basics, compliance and anti-money laundering tools and practices
  • Experience building or scaling SaaS products
  • Experience with3rd party vendors integrations, secure transaction processing, or identity verification algorithms.
  • Previous software engineering experience as a developer.
  • Experience with leading distributed teams
