We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager - Outside Sales to join our team and drive growth in our SMB (Small and Medium-sized Business) payments solutions vertical. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in outside sales, specializing in the payments industry, with a strong focus on SMB accounts. This individual will be responsible for generating high-revenue opportunities, building and nurturing relationships, and creating a robust sales pipeline within a defined territory.
The successful candidate will leverage an existing network of referral partners, clients, and prospects to generate new business. You will play a key role in executing sales strategies, uncovering new revenue opportunities, and driving business growth. The Business Development Manager will work independently while collaborating closely with the sales team and senior management to develop and execute strategies that maximize revenue and expand our market footprint.
Responsibilities:
- Territory Management & Prospecting: Own and manage a designated sales territory within the SMB market. Prospect and develop new accounts through both digital and in-person methods, including cold-calling, networking, door-knocking, and leveraging referral networks.
- Sales Execution: Utilize existing relationships and industry knowledge to drive at least $50k minimum IYR (in year revenue) year over year plus consistently bringing in 4+ approved deals per month. Manage and close sales opportunities, with a focus on high-revenue accounts across various verticals.
- Strategic Selling: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new selling methodologies and implement referral strategies tailored to your territory. Share successful strategies with colleagues in other regions to enhance overall team performance.
- Client Communication: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by educating them on product features, new offerings, and industry trends. Provide ongoing support to ensure client satisfaction and continued growth.
- Market Intelligence: Continuously analyze the competitive landscape, including service offerings of other payment processors and trends within the SMB space. Stay updated on industry regulations and emerging market needs.
- Product Expertise: Develop a deep understanding of the company’s payment solutions, technologies, and services. Effectively communicate these offerings to clients to meet their specific needs.
- Salesforce Management: Utilize Salesforce and other provided tools to manage the sales process, track pipeline progress, and provide accurate reporting on sales activities and outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 6-7 years in outside sales within the payments or merchant services industry, with a focus on SMB clients.
- Proven Success: Demonstrated success in developing and closing sales pipelines. Ability to bring on high-value accounts while meeting monthly sales targets.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the SMB market, payments, and merchant services industry. Experience with FiServ and the Clover product line is a plus.
- Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills. Ability to engage clients, understand their needs, and deliver tailored solutions.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to analyze market trends and customer needs, develop actionable strategies, and drive business growth.
- Tech Savvy: Proficiency with CRM tools (Salesforce experience preferred) and sales analytics tools to track and optimize performance.
- Work Ethic: Self-motivated, goal-driven, and able to work independently. A strong commitment to hitting sales targets and growing the territory.
- Organizational Skills: Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines effectively.
