As a Senior Credit Underwriter you will be responsible for underwriting merchants’ accounts to ensure mitigation of financial exposure and fraud as well as ensuring compliance with Card Scheme Rules. As a part of our Risk Management team, the chosen candidate’s primary responsibilities will be the following:

How we work:

 

Our preferred arrangement is for the job holder to follow a hybrid model, spending an average of three days per week at our office location. The office is located in Gresham Street next to St Paul’s cathedral with easy access and transport links via St Paul’s, Bank, Cannon Street, City Thameslink, Liverpool Street, Farringdon, Mansion House.

 

The impact you will have:

  • Analysing of business public record database inquiries, collateral collection and the development, documentation, and execution of standardized policy to ensure best business practices
  • Co-development and adherence to best practices for Anti-Money Laundering and “Know Your Customer” policies.
  • Following established policies, evaluate the risk potential of merchants by fully understanding the merchants’ financial resources, source(s) of income, credit file, and expense liabilities, track all activity and produce summary reports on your progress
  • Liaising with our merchants and internal departments and present case work to key management related to specific merchants
  • Ensuring compliance with governmental, bank, credit card and other payment companies or associations’ rules
  • Being responsible for setting merchant risk parameters according to merchants’ historical volume and activity and credit risk exposure
  • Researching unusual situations and activity by internal means such as: chargeback review, authorization review, and reviewing application information

 

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in underwriting, specifically in an online payment processing, e-commerce or banking environment
  • Experience in using business Credit Reference Agencies
  • Strong organisational, analytical and communication skills as well as great problem solving and time management abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently or in a team
  • Highly proficient in MS Office, especially in Excel and have prior experience working with advanced formulas and tools used for more complex analysis
