It starts here. Have a global impact on the world of payments.
We're looking for a Cloud Native Architect to contribute to Paysafe’s modernization across payments, wallet, and risk platforms. This is a hands-on architecture role focused on building resilient, observable, and scalable platforms using cloud-native principles. You’ll define technical strategy, design reusable patterns, and guide teams in implementing production-grade systems that are secure, cost-efficient, and performant. This role requires strong experience in cloud-native APIs, platform consistency, and observability — with the ability to balance foundational architecture thinking and practical delivery support.
What Paysafe stands for:
- Being open and honest.
- Keeping focused.
- Operating with Courage.
- Pioneering the future.
Our values and culture are driven by Equality, Development, Social Responsibility and Wellbeing. If you want to find out more about life at Paysafe, check out our careers page here.
How we work:
We follow a hybrid working model, spending an average of three days per week at our office location. The office is located in Gresham Street next to St Paul’s cathedral with easy access and transport links via St Paul’s, Bank, Cannon Street, City Thameslink, Liverpool Street, Farringdon, Mansion House.
The impact you will have:
1. Platform Modernization
- Define and evolve architectural patterns for containerized and serverless workloads (Example: breaking down monoliths into Kubernetes-based microservices or Lambda-based functions where appropriate)
- Set guardrails for service scalability, fault tolerance, and multi-region readiness
- Lead modernization of legacy stacks, especially where high-availability and regulatory requirements intersect
2. API Platform Architecture
- Architect a unified API gateway strategy that supports internal and external consumers (Example: rate limiting, authentication via OAuth2/JWT, and developer self-service)
- Define patterns for secure API exposure, traffic shaping, and policy enforcement
- Promote design-time governance: API versioning, contract-first development, observability tagging
3. Cloud-Native Infrastructure & Dev Experience
- Guide infrastructure decisions around container orchestration, eventing, and CI/CD (Example: implementing GitOps workflows using Helm/Kustomize for consistent deployments)
- Drive platform-level consistency in how services are built, deployed, and monitored
- Collaborate with security and DevOps to embed automated compliance and runtime protection
4. Observability and SLO Strategy
- Define telemetry standards across logs, metrics, and distributed tracing (Example: driving correlation between API errors, latency spikes, and infrastructure metric)s
- Work with engineering and SRE teams to define SLOs, alerts, and error budgets
- Establish best practices for service health dashboards and alert triage
5. Technical Leadership and Enablement
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to product, engineering, and infrastructure teams
- Provide architectural mentorship and pattern reviews for in-flight projects
- Align delivery with platform goals through reusable templates, golden paths, and design standards
What We're Looking For:
- Deep experience in cloud-native architecture — designing for reliability, scale, and automation
- Proven track record of delivering modern APIs at scale (internal/external) using gateways, auth strategies, and platform thinking
- Hands-on experience with container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes), serverless (e.g., AWS Lambda), and eventdriven systems
- Strong understanding of observability practices: logging, metrics, tracing, and SLOs
- Familiar with hybrid-cloud and multi-region deployment models
- Comfortable bridging strategy with execution — ability to zoom in and out
Nice to Have
- Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi)
- Exposure to developer portals and platform engineering tools
- Understanding of PCI, GDPR, and secure cloud practices in financial systems
- Contribution to open-source projects or community standards (e.g., CNCF landscape)
