We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant based in Jacksonville, Florida. This role offers a flexible hybrid work environment where you will have a blend of office days and remote working days during the week.
Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant will manage a set of accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, corporate policies, and external audits. This person will create and analyze monthly accounting entries, perform monthly variance analysis on both P&L and B/S fluxes, and prepare monthly account reconciliations. You will report to and work closely with the Senior Accounting Manager, Industry accounting team and others in the organization in preparing analysis and reconciliation of accounts.
The ideal candidate has strong leadership capabilities, solid operational and technical accounting background and works proactively to drive results. This person is a self-starter, flexible in their approach, has a high level of integrity and is action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Your responsibilities would include:
- Prepare and record assets, liabilities, revenue, and expense journal entries and adjustments by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Continuously improve business processes, systems, and enhance documentation and controls as part of our SOX compliance efforts.
- Review current revenue recognition processes/procedures and implement process improvements to improve efficiency and timeliness of the close and reporting.
- Monitor and maintain monthly aging reports and reconciliations.
- Record accruals, reversals and ensure billing and payments occurred in proper periods.
- Research and explain trends and variances for multiple accounts for monthly financial and cost center reporting. Ensures accuracy and effectiveness in all accounting tasks.
- Analyze complex monthly processor invoices.
- Analyze monthly financial statements, prepare monthly trends and balance sheet fluctuations.
- Support accounting manager with month-end and year-end close process.
- Assist with annual audit.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Perform other adhoc reporting and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications to have:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required
- Excellent communication skills preferred
- 2 + years of progressive accounting experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close process
- Relevant experience must be in publicly traded companies required
- Financial services industry experience is a plus
- Technical knowledge and practical knowledge of revenue recognition standards ASC 606
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Awareness of business trends and familiarity with financial accounting statements required
- Accuracy and attention to detail Proficient in intermediate to advance Excel (including pivot tables, xlookups, Sumifs), Word and Email required
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Experience working with large ERP and reporting packages, Oracle EBS and Blackline experience is a plus
- Relevant CPA certification preferred
