To help us fuel accelerated growth, we are seeking a Lead Data Engineer (BI) to join our team with a primary focus on BI efforts.  We are flexible on location for this role near our US office footprint. This role also offers a hybrid flexible work environment where you will have a blend of in office days and a blend of remote working days. The ideal candidate will have expert level experience with PowerBI, Azure SQL, Vertica, Data Modeling especially Dimensional modeling. This role will serve as a pivotal position to grow BI architecture.

Primary Responsibilities:
The Lead Data Engineer (BI) is responsible for building, implementing, and supporting BI solutions. The right individual will possess experience in all stages of Business Intelligence project work (requirements and logical design, physical design, implementation, testing, and deployment). The Lead Data Engineer (BI) should have a firm grasp of Business Intelligence implementation methodologies and will have had in-depth experience with Power BI, SSRS and Tableau. As part of this, you will have the opportunity to work on ETL pipelines for internal and external data sources. And rapidly iterate, prototype, and implement visualizations that meet business visualization needs.
 

  • Develop and maintain standard reporting and data and analytics solutions. Requires understanding of full BI offerings (PowerBI)
  • Continuously develops and maintains an understanding of Business Intelligence technology and architecture, including data warehousing, dimensional modeling, reporting tools, and other methods of information delivery
  • Work closely with the end user to define requirements with willingness to learn business needs to create standard reports and other data analytics solutions
  • Articulate key process flows to stakeholders. Analyze data quantitatively and communicate findings
  • Develop, implement, and maintain ETL (extract, transform, and load) solutions to bring new data into the Datamart
  • Manages industry third party data sources/feeds/relationships and blends with company data to explain trends and competitive positioning
  • Demonstrates expertise with MSBI (SSRS and SSIS) and data visualization tools (Power BI)
  • Administers & maintains the BI portal and existing BI solutions
  • Conducts and may facilitate internal testing and user acceptance testing
  • Supports integration activities with IT departments for successful implementation and support of project efforts
  • May conduct user interviews and training sessions and mentor teammates on BI tools and methods
     

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Strong experience in MS BI Stack SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Analysis Services (SSAS), Azure Data Factory (ADF), SSRS and Power BI
  • 7+ years practical experience with business intelligence solution including building/supporting data-intensive systems, data warehouses and data marts with clear understanding of industry standard concepts (star schema, snowflake, ER)
  • 5+ years hands on experience in Data Visualization or advance analytics using Power BI
  • Strong knowledge of DAX and utilizing it to create complex queries and drive dynamic visualizations within Power BI is required
  • Expertise in SQL, ELT/ETL, reporting and Visual Analytics tools including SSMS, SSRS, SSIS and Power BI, with proven implementation and adoption in a large-scale enterprise environment
  • Ability to design and develop dashboards, scorecards and KPIs using SSRS
  • Solid T-SQL knowledge and SQL query development using MS SQL 2014 or later
  • Expertise skills in data visualization, user interface design and the software development life cycle to develop data products and expertise in demonstrating the work to business groups
  • Experience in creating and deploying parameterized reports, creating hierarchies using power BI
  • Developing visual reports, KPI scorecards, and dashboards using Power BI desktop
  • Connecting data sources, importing data, and transforming data for Business intelligence
  • Expert in using advanced-level calculations on the data set
  • Should be able to develop tabular and multidimensional models that are compatible with data warehouse standards
  • Assist in planning and managing the deployment of solutions to dev, test, and production environments using automation
  • 2 or more years of experience in analyzing large datasets in MS SQL Server and creating data visualizations utilizing Tableau Desktop
  • Collaborate with development teams to design, develop, maintain, and deploy SQL database systems, Azure SQL, and Power BI
  • Collaborate and plan project tasks within an agile development environment
  • Working and collaborating with business partners, product owners, developers, and data engineers to maintain and develop new solutions
  • Determine and implement the security model based on business requirements, confirm safeguards are followed, address any data quality issues, and data governance processes are followed for the data model
  • Nice to have working knowledge in MDS (Master Data Services)
  • Excellent analytical & troubleshooting and remediation capabilities
  • Experience translating complex problems into technical specifications
  • Strong ability to multi-task and balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
